When stray light is the enemy, our Black Aluminum Coatings provide a simple, robust solution, absorbing glare down to single-digit percent reflectance. They are used to improve signal inside optical spectrometers, VR housings, and satellite instruments. In theatrical lighting, they are used to create the sharp, high-contrast patterns on glass gobos and to prevent internal ghosting in follow-spots for a crisper beam edge.
This coating is vacuum-deposited onto a range of heat-tolerant glass blanks, which can then be cut to any shape from 5 – 450 mm. Each part clears MIL-M-13508C abrasion and adhesion tests, and can be over-coated with a protective dielectric layer if your environment demands extra toughness.
